Quote: Someone is going to have to talk very slowly and use very simple words to get me to understand why Vick has taken more shit than Leonard Little, Lawrence Phillips, Jason and Christian Peters, Donte Stallworth, Chris Henry, and Larry Johnson combined. Violence against animals may be bad but violence against people is worse yet there seems to be way more people who want Vick tarred and feathered than ever seemed to give a damn what my other examples did off the field.
OK, because sometimes intentions matter more than outcomes.
For example, if 10 people die unintentionally through an accidental mistake made by somebody, that person usually isn't considered as bad as somebody who intentionally killed and tortured only one person purely for their own pleasure.
That's one of those concepts you either get or you don't.
I beg to differ.. For years now I've believed that people's emotions are affected far more by any perceived cruelty towards animals than any violence perpetrated on a human being.Factor in the fact that p.e.t.a. and people with sympathy to their cause are often radical and highly vocal in their beliefs magnifies their outrage Ever notice what a big deal stem-cell research is to the radical fundamentalist who oppose it?I often wonder if it was discovered that pit-bulls or baby seals released a pheromone that could cure cancer when ONLY if you kill them with a claw-hammer,if people would care so much? What keeps me awake at night sometimes is not understanding why people as unintelligent as Mike Tyson, O.J. Simpson,George Bush Jr. etc. have the world at their feet while so many more deserving and prepared individuals never have those opportunities..
There certainly are the animal rights nuts, no doubt. But they are a small fraction of the group that find Vick's actions offensive.
It is more about the fact that animals are at our mercy and we are their guardians and protectors (like a helpless child or mentally retarded adult) that gives that extra bit venom to the the Vick hatred. It isn't about animal versus person. I know THAT is the easy conclusion to jump to, but it really isn't the correct one.
Uhm, at least not for me, and the many other anti-PETA, non-animal rights nuts who find Vick skin crawlingly grotesque.
I do not support anything PETA stands for and I absolutely believe Vick is a sub-human that should be tortured to death and it has nothing to do with the fact that his victims were dogs.
