He has to find a team to take him first. I think most fans would freak if their team accepted him, so he has about as much chance finding a team (for now) as OJ Simpson had finding an acting job after the first trial.

There are plenty of teams that would sign him. The question is are any of them willing to hand him a starting QB Job, and the $$ that comes along with it? I don't think so. Some team will sign him to be a backup/wildcat qb, PR/KR guy, and maybe 3rd down back or wide out. He was always a better athlete than a qb, so I see him doing a little of everything. I thank god that the Jets have no use for him. He'll get a 2 year deal, maybe a million dollar signing bonus, but that would be the only guaranteed $$.

This is a massive victory for all those who believe in 2nd chances and not vindictively holding a man's past over his head beyond when he's paid his debt to society.

I don't think he will make much this year. He is not up for full time reinstatement until week 6 of the season, so he would be a backup or special teams at best. However, the UFL is offering him $2mil, so time will tell.
He is a talented player and will end up somewhere. Hopefully, he can put his past behind him and move on, but his public image is forever tainted. He was always an exciting player to watch.
Let the NFL season begin !

There certainly are the animal rights nuts, no doubt. But they are a small fraction of the group that find Vick's actions offensive.
It is more about the fact that animals are at our mercy and we are their guardians and protectors (like a helpless child or mentally retarded adult) that gives that extra bit venom to the the Vick hatred. It isn't about animal versus person. I know THAT is the easy conclusion to jump to, but it really isn't the correct one.
Uhm, at least not for me, and the many other anti-PETA, non-animal rights nuts who find Vick skin crawlingly grotesque.
I do not support anything PETA stands for and I absolutely believe Vick is a sub-human that should be tortured to death and it has nothing to do with the fact that his victims were dogs.

For my two cents, I think the Eagles organization has lost faith in McNabb but they haven't benched or traded him simply because there's been nothing available that's better. Vick might not be better either, but at least the next time Reid sits McNabb, they've got a guy back there that has potential to be explosive. Quote:

I can't wait to see the fight between the Philly art-fag PETA members, and the drunken, tail gating loons that occupy the stadium in Philly. I think it might conjure visions of construction workers beating down hippies in the 60s.
Anyway, it is probably a good spot for Vick. Gets into a no pressure situation. Eagles probably going to the playoffs w/wo him. And if he is at QB, he's only slightly less accurate than Donovan, so they won't be losing much there.

I don't envision the home of the Philly cheese steak giving too much love to PETA. Any protests will take place at away games (but not in Dallas, too many BBQ lovers). If Reid can find a way to get McNabb, Vick, Westbrook, and Macklin on the field at the same time they will stretch an opposing defense thinner than Kirstie Alley's panties when she picks up the morning paper off her porch.

I agree that Vick has served his sentence and yes he had more consequences than the average person convicted of the same thing. But playing in the NFL is a privilege. I am not saying that he shouldn't be able to work again, clearly he should. But he should have to start over like most people do after a felony conviction.
Hell I am a teacher...you think if I slept with a student, got convicted and served my time they would let me teach again? What about after all the students who supported me and came forward talked about all the positive impact I have had on them? What about looking at how my students test on standardized test? No I would have to pick a new career and start over doing something else....Just want a little equity.

Vick's crime has nothing to do with his profession...it's completely unrelated. Also, how is playing in the NFL considered a 'privilege'? It's a business, and if Vick's served his time, he should be able to go back to work. There are more than enough ex-cons NOT working right now, we don't need another one.

I really don't care enough about the subject to argue it at length, so I'll agree to disagree. I will say that I do believe the man has a conscience, he's a jock, not some boogieman...just a greedy asshole that got caught up in something that was obviously bigger than he could handle.

I know it is the way it is.....all i am saying is people should expect or allowed back the way he did.....his second chance is getting out of jail and putting his life back together....not pressing the pause button on someone's life......
the teacher should be given second chances......(not in the same career).....hell go teach college, tutor, or Sylvan, citizenship.....just not back in the same venue/sector when the mess up really occured.....

The moral issue for you is that the transgressor must "change venues" after having served whatever penance his crime requires?
So, if Michael Vick's career had landing him playing arena football when he was tagged for dog-fighting? You'd be okay if when he came out of prison that he could go to the NFL under those circumstances? If some NFL team said he was good enough to play for them?
Or, does the "change in venue" have to be a step down from what he was doing before?

I wasnt saying dogs and children are the same...but why is what he did ok and forgivable just because his victims werent human?? This wasnt some drug charge or ANY semblance of a victimless crime. He RIPPED DOGS APART,ELECTROCUTED AND DROWNED THEM WITH HIS BARE HANDS. He did this over and over for years...happily.That isnt someone who made a mistake and we should all forgive and forget. That is a fucking sociopath.
And it isnt jealousy at all. I have no problem with other athletes earning much more then him...they havent committed the outrageously horrible crimes he has. A little of both i guess. Vick was my favourite player in the league for years. We could get into a huge blow out over passing/rushing yards yadda yadda, but he was truly amazing on a few of those sundays.
I am glad he was caught and punished. Regardless of what you think he should have received etc., he served his sentence and lost all of his money. However, I do not want ex-cons being mendicants, collecting welfare and living off of the state; I want them working and paying taxes. Throwing a football is and was Vick's way of earning a living. I make no bones about wanting him to succeed.
I also am a little amused and amazed at the number of people that are so insanely rooting for him to fail. This is my 'fuck you' to them on some level.
Oh and 'wigger' and ' I thought you were black' in the same thread really put a smile on my face for some reason...

i have a real hard problem with folks bitchin about the whore Vick deal....yeah he did his "time"...more then a ex Heisman Trophy winner who was acquitted of a DOUBLE homicide....he high profile.....he cant get get a job as a greeter at wal mart....let the fuck donate more then half his salary over the next 4 years to the ASPCA, do some PSA's (Paul Reubens style) and 1/2 a year community service + lifetime probation. Rush is out of the investment group as of today. I think it's wrong. As a limited partner he would have had nothing to do with operations or relations anyway. The reason I brought Rush up was to see if those so vociferous in giving vick a second chance would be onboard for giving Rush the chance to own a beloved NFl team, it seems that most of the vick supporters didn't care or were not willing to give rush the same support in this thread.
I noticed this trend on the nlf talk shows- lots of players wanted vick to be completely forgiven- he has done his time, everyone deserves a second chance etc- but not many came out and said Rush should be able to own a team in fact many are against it.
Personally- like King says the NFl should have the right to do business with whomever they want and to protect their brand. I would ban a great many of these criminals in the nfl and prevent people like rush with excess baggage from becoming owners.

What was that letter about that a bunch of US Congressmen signed that was anti-Rush? They sent it to him and he auctioned it off on eBay or something. He's always doing shit like this. He thinks it gets him listeners and it probably does.
Just think if you're gonna be a fat mouth radio host, delighting in saying things you know are gonna offend at least half the people in the country, you pretty much need to accept that high profile public image jobs where they're just looking for mass acceptance, you don't fit in. Shouldn't go there. The two don't mix. Now, I didn't know that being an NFL owner was one of those jobs, but apparently it is.

When he made that ridiculous "Donovan McNabb's only thought of as good because he's black" and they kicked him off ESPN, he took responsibility for his fat mouth and was gracious about resigning. He just said, "ESPN told me they didn't want any part of the controversy I bring, and when it came to that, I'm just gonna walk away. ESPN was very clear they didn't want the controversy." I respected that. With this NFL thing, when the group of partners asked him to withdrawal, he goes, "no, if you want to fire me you go public and fire me". He wanted it public to milk it.
What was that letter about that a bunch of US Congressmen signed that was anti-Rush? They sent it to him and he auctioned it off on eBay or something. He's always doing shit like this. He thinks it gets him listeners and it probably does.
Just think if you're gonna be a fat mouth radio host, delighting in saying things you know are gonna offend at least half the people in the country, you pretty much need to accept that high profile public image jobs where they're just looking for mass acceptance, you don't fit in. Shouldn't go there. The two don't mix. Now, I didn't know that being an NFL owner was one of those jobs, but apparently it is.
Well at least you are consistent,like me, except you do not like rush as I dislike Vick. Both should be allowed to do what they want IF the governing body (NFL) says it is OK to do so.Though if I ran the NFL neither would have a place in it.

Yeah, ultimately it's whatever the NFL wants to do. But, the reason it's worth arguing about is the NFL is gonna make the decision based on public perception. It's just talking about what the status quo should be.
The Vick issue comes down to what's most important, that he used to practise cruelty to animals vs. that he's served his punishment, is making amends, and now fighting to save animals, surely saving more animals than he ever harmed. I come down squarely on 2nd chances there. And, I'm glad that even though there are a lot of whacko animal right activists who made a lot of noise, I'm glad that most people wanted to see Vick overcome his past.

He just runs around offending half the people and then takes offense himself when he can't take a high profile position trying to sell goods to people he offends.

He is an asshole for putting dogs in the worst enviroment . Not only did he fight dogs , it was said that he electrocuted them , drowned them , beat them , shot them . Thats pretty much torture .
I like football , but it's the players and the people who recruit these losers who ruin a game that is supposed to be an all american past time . When you start letting criminals and felons into the game , it's no longer a sport that you can find a good role model or a player you can look up to . And i'm saying that for the young kids that look up to these players .

ATLANTA, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Informants say the NFL's Michael Vick -- formerly with Atlanta, now with Philadelphia -- drowned, shot and bludgeoned fighting dogs to death, documents show.
Summaries of interrogations of a member of the quarterback's dogfighting ring and with confidential informants conducted by federal investigators were released Friday to WSB-TV, Atlanta, through a Freedom of Information Act request. The broadcaster said they contained claims that Vick killed fighting dogs that didn't perform well by hitting them with shovels and that he got an "adrenaline high while killing the dogs."
The transcripts were compiled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as investigators looked into dogfighting allegations against Vick.
They also indicated that a Delta Airlines employee was fired for trying to "get Vick around security" while the dogfighting investigation was at its peak, and that Vick hired the fired employee himself because he "felt responsible," WSB reported.
Vick, who played six seasons for the Atlanta Falcons, served nearly two years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a federal animal-fighting charge and was released in 2009. He joined the Eagles during the 2009 season.
