If I'm not mistaken, Washington and Jefferson were Southerners. It was Continental regulars and militia from North and South Carolina who drove Cornwallis from the Carolinas and trapped him inside Yorktown.

I don't think either Washington or Jefferson would have considered themselves southerners. I grew up in the shadow of George Washington (my house was formerly part of his farm) and received at least a small portion of my education at Mr. Jefferson's University.
I now live in the deep south and have difficulty with many of these issues... No matter.
Neither George nor Tom were Southerners in their own minds (nor are the people who currently live in the same regions) regardless of whether southerners claim them or the Mason-Dixon line boundaries define them otherwise.

During the days of the Revolution, the differences between the North and South were probably not as pronounced as they were after the War of 1812 and the Louisiana Purchase. It was the question of slavery's place in westward expansion that created the divide within the United States. So yes, Washington and Jefferson would likely have thought of themselves not so much as "Southerners" but rather Virginians. The question is whether they would have regarded themselves more as Virginians than Americans, as Robt. E. Lee did.

I grew up in the Northeast...spent all but the last 9 yrs of my life there. I'm in the adult industry. But you know what? If they're going to build a new Great Wall to keep the Mexicans out, the Wall should take a hard left and include Texas and Oklahoma, turn right to include Arkansas, curve upward to include Kentucky, continue upwards to include West Virginia (not so much "South", but run like a Southern state with bonus coal) and finish up somewhere in Virginia dependent upon, if by that time, the terrified residents offer George Allen and Oliver North as apologetic sacrifices to the remorseless and vengeful Wall.

I agree politically, but I enjoy recreation in Alabama, the Florida panhandle, Kentucky, and West Virginia. I had a good time in Texas in 1976 in the service. North Carolina was very good to me. I don't like the Northeast, because it seems the people there have to prove to you they are assholes before they will do any decent business with you.
The Midwest is OK, a little boring. I haven't been out West in a very long time.

Let me explain further. The central bankers, which are headed by the house of Rothschild, had gained limited control of our currency thru the Bank of America act in the 1820's.
The Southerns were in favor of them establishing a Central bank, and the Northerners were opposed to it.
This was the deciding factor that led to the Civil War.

Chemical plants, munitions plants, and textile mills all destroyed in the northern effort to keep the southern man down. The south repelled the north for several years at the start of the war and that alone should tell you that their industrial output had to be very close to that of the north, but what should I expect, teaching a liberal deductive reasoning is 10 times more difficult than teaching a dog calculus.

I'm not saying the south didn't have some industry it's just that out of all the industry in America at that time the north had approximately 70% of it. Also keep in mind that until the blockade began to have effect a lot of the south's shit came from France and England.

Which is the reason they had to build up their industrial base, although I think your numbers are low. After the war most of what was remaining was destroyed by the north. It's hard to foster an uprising if you can't make weapons.

Well, dunderhead, those dollars are spent on things like military bases and nuclear waste dumps and other things those precious blue states don't want within their borders.
