I have always bought American vehicles. Now, my only choice is Ford, since it's the only company that didn't knuckle under to and agree to be run by the monkey. I won't buy any GM or Chrysler product until Odumba gets out of their board rooms.

What makes a car AMERICAN anyway?
The people who own the stock? Or the worker's who construct the vehicle?
I've always seen a Toyota built in a US plant as more AMERICAN than a GM built in Canada or Mexico anyway.

It really doesn't matter WHERE they make it, in the end, the money goes back to the Japs. If I buy a Ford product or a Monkeymobile, the money comes back to Dearborn, Michigan or to The Great Messiah. And, well I'm an old fashioned guy..I've got this thing about Dec 7, 1941. I don't buy ANYTHING that comes from Japan, unless I have to. More often than not, buying something Japanese can't be avoided, but if I have a choice, I buy from an American-based company.

I wouldn't touch a GM either but for a different reason: no way am I going to sink money into a product designed by political appointees. There are already signs that GM's plant and product decision are not made by the company.
I drive an American-made Honda.

Way too right.....they are built internationally (in China) with parts (from Korea) then sent to USA via Maersk shipping and then stamped "MADE IN THE USA" because the paper for the price of the vehicle was made in the showroom....and that of course in on US soil.
So it basically boils down to where the company HQ or stock is listed....if it’s on the NYSE....”I guess” it’s an American company.....If the HQ is located in Detroit, MI “I guess” it’s an American company.
Funny thing is when I call for customer support they always reroute the call to some call center in India.

Obviously, it varies widely depending on what you're looking for. Gotta read the labels, or look it up beforehand.

Yes, buy from American companies, because they have been so loyal to their American employees. 
Or does it matter? I'm the liberal who says that wealth is generated by the middle class producing and purchasing. Conservatives say the rich corporate powers create jobs and wealth, so the middle class buying habits shouldn't matter to you. 
BTW, I'm getting the itch to buy a Jeep. Are they still made in Toledo?
