The "Imperfect Game". Qualls was playing because the night before the centerfielder, Don Young, screwed up a couple of plays and the Mets won the game in the bottom of the ninth.
A side note. The next day a guy named Frank Graddock beat his wife to death because she kept switching the Met game to a channel that was showing "Dark Shadows"

It was a wonderful community with some very enjoyable members. But the vast majority were like German housewives circa 1943 prenteding that horrib;le smell wafting through their open windowsd was just the neighbors having a cookout..--Windsock
