In Eastern Ohio, there are a lot of German-Americans. And in Dayton, there are a lot of Polish-Americans with a neighborhood and restaurants and a club to promote their culture. The Greek festival each year is one of my favorite places to buy unusual, and very good, desserts.

As someone with a Protestant background, I am surprised at the Catholics who seem to use the religion as a social club, more than what I think of as religion. And these different parishes tend to delineate along ethnic lines, and send their children to Catholic schools, so the ethnic identity continues through generations.

Me, I'm just a dirty white boy. Genealogical research reveals I'm at least 7/16 German, and the rest is mostly, or all, English. Go back several generations on each side. But I don't identify with any of the ethnic cultures, really.
