Detroit is just too much.

(CNN) -- Monica Conyers, Detroit's embattled City Council president pro tempore, pleaded guilty Friday to conspiring to commit bribery, a federal court representative in Michigan told CNN.

Conyers, 44, admitted accepting bribes in exchange for her vote to sway the City Council to approve Synagro Technologies Inc.'s $1.2 billion contract in 2007.

It's unclear when Conyers, the wife of U.S. Rep. John Conyers, began her relationship with Synagro, but court papers say she received money from Synagro until December 2007.

Guilty plea for Detroit "spam king" (SC Magazine)

Five individuals pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Detroit for their roles in an international spam operation that sent billions of emails to tout Chinese "penny" stocks and used a botnet capable of evading spam detection.

The syndicate's orchestrators, Alan Ralsky, 64, and his son-in-law, Scott Bradley, 38, both of West Bloomfield, Mich., pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, money laundering and violating federal anti-spam laws (CAN-SPAM), according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice.
