I've been accused of being someone's alt at least twice on this forum, altho I can't remember who the other one was. It was when I first started posting here.

Although I had several identities in high school/ college that I used for various games I'd play with people, I've never pretended to be anyone other than me online. I'm fairly computer literate, which means I can swap out memory sticks, but I always just assumed it was too easy to figure out if someone was posting under multiple names. I saw people get caught doing that lots of times on USENET, and even thought the groups had the dynamics of a monkey shit fight, I always thought it was a cheap way to play. If nothing else, I'm honest when I post, wherever I post. I figure if I'm in the wrong, and I get trashed for it, that's the price of the game being played. But to be outed as being someone I'm not, that would be really embarassing. Any credibility that I might have, even if it's just in my own mind, would be shot.

Of course, Barry isn't my real name. It's just a handle that has no meaning to anyone but me. But what I post is me, from my heart.

Believe if you want. Or not. I know who I am and who I am not. I'm not meaning this post as anything cranky or hostile. I'm just saying where I'm coming from.
