All the folks I know have done jail time could have have spent that time doing something much more useful. Especially a guy with a MD tacked onto his name.

I don't know where you live Loopnode, but in where I live jail does not seem useful at all. I think the people who have sentences should serve them as public workers. Do things that benefit the city.

Many people who are in prison are already able to practice a trade or vocational skill. Let them do it! Don't let them spend their lives cooped up watching TV all the time.

Just saying, if you have a "debt to society" than it should be something other than sitting in a small room, eating shit food, doing the same thing day after day. It doesn't really help society as a whole.

Time spent in a tiny cell for able bodied men and women is useless to them and the people who pay to feed them.
