Not a joke:
The whereabouts of Gov. Mark Sanford have been unknown to state officials since Thursday, and some state leaders are questioning who is in charge of the executive office.
Neither the governor’s office nor the State Law Enforcement Division, which provides security for governors, has been able to reach Sanford after he left the mansion in a black SLED Suburban SUV, said Sen. Jake Knotts and three others familiar with the situation but who declined to be identified.
Sanford’s last known whereabouts were near Atlanta, where a mobile telephone tower picked up a signal from his phone, authorities said.
First lady Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press today her husband has been gone for several days and she doesn't know where he is.
The governor’s personal and state phones have been turned off and he has not responded to phone and text message since Thursday, a source said.
Jenny Sanford said she was not concerned.
She said the governor said he needed time away from their children to write something.
The governor’s office issued a statement Monday afternoon: "Gov. Sanford is taking some time away from the office this week to recharge after the stimulus battle and the legislative session, and to work on a couple of projects that have fallen by the wayside.
"We are not going to discuss the specifics of his travel arrangements or his security arrangements.
One official familiar with the situation said there is no indication that foul play is involved because Sanford occasionally makes trips without his security detail.

Yeah that's him. I think his Presidential aspirations are over regardless- you wouldn't leave your wife and kids on Father's Day and them not know where you are.
I suspect he almost had a nervous breakdown due to the political wrangling he just went through, and had to go to a mental facility and his wife just isn't saying.

B) Screwing the shit out of some totally hott Stripper after realizing his presidential aspirations are kaput...I think at this very moment He is splooging his executive load down her non-lubricated throat, and she is realizing for the first time that she actually enjoys it.... Seriously, back in 1996-1998, when I was ... "in charge"... of a 150 million dollar sales/marketing division of a Billion dollar corporation, I'd often "disappear" for a day or two at a time, and all my underlings/subordinates/salesreps (and even my executive assistant between whose tits I jerked off once a week) would all stand around with their thumbs up their collective asses, sending me page after electronic page, waiting and wondering where the fuck I was ... when I'd get back I'd chastise them by pointing out that 99.97% of the problems and issues they supposedly needed me to "solve" fell within their sphere of job responsibilities, and I'd end the chastisement with "Just what THEEE fuck am I and the corporation paying you for exactly????" I never would answer the question about where I was and what (or WHO) I was DOING....mainly because I often didnt remember  Functional Addiction and substance abuse is the KEY to a life worth living, let me tell ya....

The dude just went through a pretty bad political standoff here. Basically our State government has run itself fiscally responsibly and has been hurt by losses in pension investments and things out of his control. He wanted to apply the stimulus to debt incurred due to lost investments and the feds won't allow it. They want to creat programs one-time funded by the stimulus that will be further burdens down the road. I have met him. I know people that know him. He is fundamentally opposed to this on principle. He has stood alone in the country on this and yes there has been political hay to make on the controversy but my personal opinion is that this last legislative session beat him to a pulp and he had to go off somewhere to decompress and possibly get some counseling. And of course his wife has known where he is all along.

Without letting his wife, family, Lt. Governor, or state police know where he will be for 5 days? Then claim you were out hiking in the mountains for 5 days without telling anybody where you were going, where you are, or when you'll be back, and when to start worrying you might be lying in a ravine with a broken leg or have been mauled by a wild animal or tied up to a tree by a crazy hillbilly and ass raped while being told to squeal like a pig? I don't think that is a right, that is a cover-up.
If it is true (and it isn't) it is a reflection of his colossal poor judgment and an indication to everybody he needs to be removed from public office to find a job that he can handle without cracking up and running into the woods for 5 days until being dragged back.
Of course, nobody really believes he was hiking in the woods for the last five days anyway and I'd like to put down a few bucks on that with anybody who wants to bet me he was. The truth will come out eventually. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but it will eventually. Mark my words.

UPDATE: Several different sources indicate he drove to Atlanta and boarded a plane several days ago. Anybody out there still believe he was out hiking in the woods for 5 days?
Update: Cellphone reportedly traced to Atlanta by office staff and State police when they couldn't reach him several days ago.
Update: South Carolina Government vehicle the Gov. was supposedly driving claimed to be seen at KATL airport (where there are tons of security cameras around).

Props to Elaborator for trying to get me worked up. I'm sure the man was hiking the trail and sure his wife knew and sure his staff could get him if anything life threatening or an emergency happened. I don't want or expect you people to understand SC politics but it is easy for me to see how his political enemies would try to blow this out of proportion. "Fathers Day" is a fake Hallmark Holiday so that doesn't figure into the equation at all to thinking people. Mothers Day is the same but it's impossible to ignore that one without looking like a piece of shit.
The man has his enemies and this is the home of Lee Atwater, after all.

I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I still don't know for sure if it was a man, a woman, or a trannie and I got a couple of bets in. I'm missing the part where Sanford said he possesses perfect character. But I'm sure he's expressed a belief that character is something everyone (including himself) should aspire to.
Before Dems Elliot Spitzer and Gary Hart fucked around, did they announce "I'm against traditional values". Don't think so. Dem fornicaters are just as hypocritical as Sanford by your logic, but comparatively speaking they always get a free ride.

"traditional values" and god bullshit aside, it will be a shame if Sanford goes. I don't really agree with all of his conservative/christian stuff, but for a man cut from that cloth he seems quite reasonable.
There is a lot of schadenfreude going on right now on teh internets. I think infidelity is something between spouses.

He blasted Clinton, back in the day. It's on a loop on CNN. At that time he had never had an affair. Several things point to this being his first fuck-up.
1.Had he been a serial cheater he would have kept quiet about Clinton.
2.He fell "in love" with the woman and lost his fucking mind.
3.He refused to lie about it and didn't even try.
I believe this was his first experience in this realm simply because he blew it so badly.
And...word on the street is that these emails are his private emails, not sent through the State networks or using his State address. So that indicates his wife or someone very close to him may have passed them on to the news media.
Yes he fucked up- in a huge way. It's sad to see, for me at least. My first preference would be to see him work it out with his wife and family but if that isn't happening I hope he has the stones to go to Argentina or bring the woman here and move on with his life instead of trying to salvage what's left of his reputation for the rest of his days.

First, I don't recall what he said about Clinton- whether it was the act or the lie. Probably both. At that time, in my opinion, he hadn't done either. His mistake.
Second- he never said he hiked anywhere- he left his staff twisting in the wind to try to cover for their boss. Honestly, had this been a pattern they would have smoothed this over like like shit out of a goose.
Third- Sure it was a political (or personal) hit. I am hearing the emails weren't released through freedom of information requests but were provided from personal email accounts. I might be wrong but that is the word on the street. Our Lt. Gov. has crashed a plane and bluffed his way out of a speeding ticket/possible DUI and was accused of being gay last week by a lesbian politician. What Sanford was doing, the good he was doing, earned him many enemies within and without his own party.

In particular, Rush Limbaugh was notably silent about drug abuse especially when it concerned celebrities and afaik anyone else. The rest, I couldn't give a fuck about because they aren't familiar and don't impact me. I think you compared Spitzer to Desi Foxx somewhere in there but I'm not sure.
I voted for Sanford. I know enough about the dude in question here that I would have believed he hit the A.T. if he'd half-assed tried to cover it that way. He didn't even try. Not by half.
He fucked up. Think about that. You can sleep well knowing your next pres or veep won't be a cursed philanderer.

Rush Limbaugh did more to promote just how fucking GOOD Oxycontin is than anything Purdue - Pharma (the manufacturer HERE in good ol' Connecticut  ) EVER could have come up with.....If a conservative Blowhard like Limbaugh can sink so far, so fast into addiction to the point where he openly sits in a Denny's parking lot, sweating and jonesing, for 2 hours with $9,000 in cash between his fat thighs waiting for his Maid's Fiance to show up with 200 of the yellow, 40 mg tablets, THAT tells anyone interested that OXY is some Gooooooood shit.... I hope Holly Randall, or Baby G, never never NEVER EVER try Oxycontin....

What he's saying is that if there's a line of cocaine here, I have to make the choice to go down and sniff it….And his point is that we are rationalizing all this irresponsibility and all the choices people are making and we're blaming not them, but society for it. All these Hollywood celebrities say the reason they're weird and bizarre is because they were abused by their parents. So we're going to pay for that kind of rehab, too, and we shouldn't. It's not our responsibility. It's up to the people who are doing it. And Colangelo is right.
