"Cum" on down Static. I'd love to take you fishing.
To clarify, that's a scene from Godfather II (which I watched last Sunday) involving Fredo out on Lake Tahoe before he gets whacked by the guy behind him.
It's part of a triad of Michael Coreolone revenge hits that ends the movie and parallels an earlier triad of hits that ends the first movie.
I found II disappointing compared to I, and this particular scene can be an exhibit in my case.
Halfway through II, Michael tells Fredo "I know it was you" but since he's blood, he won't kill him but merely exile him from the family. He's permitted to see their mother, but must call first to ensure that Michael won't be around for the visit.
Also, this scene culminates a series of Michael's allegations stating that he knew that it was other people who tried to kill him at Lake Tahoe (perhaps providing a reason for his machinations throughout the movie, but it is never clear who tried to kill him).
Mother dies, sister (Taila Shire) intercedes on Fredo's behalf, Michael hugs/forgives Fredo, Fredo spends some quality fishing time with Michael Jr.
Then, to finally end the three-hour running length, a triad of killings, including Fredo.
Nice bit of "II" trivia: Johnny Ola was played by Dominic Chianese, aka Uncle Junior of "the Sopranos." Look fast, it's in the scene at a Havana nightclub, where Michael observes and processes the interaction between Ola and Fredo.
