There are two basic approaches to this question:

The first is to feel young and invincible, stay intoxicated, engage in high risk sexual practices, trust your life to former prostitutes and whores to oversee your health care records and trust in the power of statistical probability and the reassuring comfort of blind ignorance to protect you.

On the other hand, what I would recommend is looking for the nearest public health clinic that provides sexual education and testing services and is affiliated with a large, well respected, well funded university medical center and staffed full time by physicians who specialize in infectious diseases. I would make an appointment in advance with a physician (not walk in to see the nurse), show up early, dress and act like you are a human being, talk honestly and plainly, pay all your bills on time or early, and once you develop a relationship, ask if you can see the Physician in his or her private clinic on a regular basis in the future. Your geographic location may make this difficult, but not impossible. The benefit is not only better care before you get infected, but better care after you get infected and a relationship with somebody you can trust to answer your questions.
