I think the Michael Vick apologists would simply say that it is a cultural thing. You know, like inner city American kids with dog fighting, or New England settlers with witch burnings, or the Spanish Clergy with the Inquisition. It is the culture that they grew up in, so they have no moral or ethical responsibility to do the right thing, in fact there really is no "right thing" and to imply that there might be such a thing is racist and culturally insensitive
