Cain was supposed to be half chinese, his mother a chinese and his father a white man. The role was originally supposed to be for Bruce Lee but the television execs thought that American audiences would not accept the show with a chinese protagonist so they decided on the mixed ancestry back story and a Caucasian actor to fill the lead role.
