Wrong. From what I've seen in 3+ years, JRV can take a punch.
JRV's not bad. But, every man has his weaknesses. Gen being one, in the past tense. Is it possible Coke's extra efforts have found a new, less utilized weakness? One that can only be exploited with a higher level off effort and talent?
I'm sure there were proper explanations for the banning floating around his head. But, the fact remains, JRV was tired of something and banned someone who most thought shouldn't be banned. I offer a guess as to JRV's more primordial thoughts as to why this happend. I'm not so interested in explaning the rationalized, more decent thoughts he had floating in his head at the same time. Just find them boring. Not so much fun.

The only subject I've ever really seen him in any way "sensitive" about was Gen. But, I don't recall any Gen-related bans.
This is the post where JRV banned Coke: Click
It's pretty clear by the quotes around spic that the hate un-nerves JRV. Viewing him as a hate-monger, JRV probably feels like the guy's beneath him, hence my "slimy hate-filled greaseball" remark.
And, JRV's got a point in that post on legal facts where he's rolling his eyes at Coke about appelate courts. He's belittling Coke's factual basis. Emphasized by JRV then rolling into deeper belittlement by referring to the race-hate. Interpretation of JRV's appelate courts statement is subjective, but it sounds to me like he's tired of some guy who can punch back and puts more effort into the board than JRV does. Tired of it, because to the casual reader, due to extra effort, Coke always looks like he's right. JRV has gotten tired and worn down because it's a blow to his own self-esteem? He's tired of looking like his self-assumed superior knowledge is wrong?
