I don't approve of DADT - it's a halfway political compromise that doesn't do a thing except guarantee it's the wrong answer from every perspective. The only excuse would be to buy time to do some studies of Iraq and Afghanistan to show that there were was in fact no problem, but I don't think anyone has ever looked to see either way.

My guess is that gays in combat units don't matter. If it did there would already be problems showing up.

Also, the resistance seems to be coming from higher-ranking guys in the US, i.e., not the ones whose lives depend on unit cohesion. If it's not a problem for the guys living on the battlefield I don't really care if some general in the Pentagon has to listen to people swish by his desk all day long.
