You know some people just like weapons and collecting them.For no other reason then the object itself.

Personally...I believe that no neighborhood,or anywhere for that matter,that's 100% safe.
Plus I just like shooting. I like going to the range and sharpening my skills while getting out my aggressions safely on a paper target.

And as a woman who has spent many years leaving strip clubs,sometimes in not great areas, in the wee hours of the morning...it's just plain smart to be prepared for any kind of possible assault. My Taser has come in handy fending off would be rapists/attackers.
