Could always get a Saiga 12. I've got mine converted to the correct trigger group/space with a SAW grip and an ACE folding stock with 10-round mags and running Centurion ammo. Not as cheap as an 870, but owning what's essentially a 12-gauge AK-47 is appealing.
As much as I like 10mm, tracking down ammo is a bitch and as you pointed out, finding a gun is a bit of a problem. I like Glocks, but I have a thing for Sigs. .357 SIG is a nasty round, but you run into the ammo problem, too. I'll just stick with my .45s.
I've gotten my DPMS down to .5 MOA. Even the Marine Force Recon sniper I go shooting with every now and then likes it. Then again, he can overlap a five-round group with it at 600 yards, so I can understand why.
