They are in fact real sisters. From what I've heard, Britney was born before their parents got married, which is why they have different last names.

And their father (who was a very abusive man) left when they were still pretty young.

And for the record, I have to say I don't see any appeal in the Love twins. They are very unattractive and there's not much "heat" in their performances. Along with Desi Foxx and her white-trash daughter, they're amongst the few people on my porn shit list.
