YORKTOWN - A 50-year-old man has been issued a criminal summons after he hit an 8-year-old boy with a tree branch, police said today.

Steven Kosloff allegedly struck the boy in retaliation for the boy's hitting the tree with a baseball bat. The tree belonged to the boy's mother, with whom Kosloff is friends, police said.

Kosloff, of Woodfield Court, was charged Tuesday with second-degree harassment, a violation, in connection with the incident, which took place April 21 around 3:30 p.m., police said.

Kosloff appeared voluntarily at police headquarters. He was given a May 21 date in Yorktown Town Court.

The child was not seriously injured, police said.
