as far as i know, (and i'm not claiming to be the most informed person in the world on capital punishment issues, so if someone has some credible information i'm not aware of, please jump in here) it's not really debated that capital punishment, as it exists now, is outrageously expensive, (much more expensive than life in prison) due to the process. as i understand it, pro-capital punishment peeps counter this by arguing that we should streamline the process, (eliminate "dubious" legal maneuvering, limit appeals, etc.) making it more cost effective to obtain and carry out death penalty sentences. i do appreciate your intellectual honesty in saying you didn't read the article you're disagreeing with, though. respect.

If you cannot see why defending this dirt bag's right to a long and comfortable life takes balls, I could never explain it to you.
again, you're insinuating that life in prison is not a punishment. i'm glad you're on my side of the argument, i'd hate to hear what you'd say if you were in favor of the death penalty.
to me, in this argument, the burden is on the pro-death penalty folks. i don't feel like it takes any kind of balls to argue against the taking of a life, even if you are going to say it's the life of a dirtbag. and certainly no one in this thread has actually attempted to make any argument in favor of capital punishment, unless you count brainstorming methods of gruesome revenge killing to be a persuasive debate technique. but, yeah, get back to me tomorrow, my vagina is killing me anyway.
