yes, and as i pointed out, killing the man requires us to give a lot more. this is the point i was trying to make. if you are, indeed, against the death penalty and are just trying to clarify the position, it seems worthwhile to note this.

again, you may call this "intellectual honesty," but to me it appears that you are discounting the position. you are framing it as his opinion flies in the face of the facts, that he is somehow brave for expressing this opinion when it has no grounding in reality. maybe i'm still misunderstanding you.
