John H. Patterson founded the National Cash Register Company, a huge local employer for decades and manufacturer of Cash Registers, computers, and today, ATM's.


The Wright Brothers spent their lives and did most of their work here.


There was a huge flood in 1913 that led to the building of 5 dams.


Charles F. Kettering invented the automobile self-starter, founded DELCO (Dayton Electronics Company), and has a large suburb of Dayton and our largest downtown building named after him.
