I was so bummed when I read about this. Next up on the GM chopping block are Saturn, Saab, and Hummer.

Hummer's plant is in Mishawaka, IN - which is a suburb of South Bend. This will get spun off, assuming the military doesn't change vehicles any time soon. The figuring is that SOMEONE will take that facility over for certain. That facility assembles the H1 to H3 and all military trucks as well.

Saturn's plant in Spring Hill, TN (south of Nashville) isn't that old, but I don't see them surviving at all.

GMC's medium truck plant is also here in Fort Wayne. It will cost alot of jobs, even though those lines aren't supposed to be spun off.

Total carnage / fallout from this was estimated around 21,000 jobs, I think?

I own a Toyota Yaris for commuter & long distance travel (gas mileage) and I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited w/ 5.7L Hemi. I don't really fall for the "me love domestic auto long time" bullshit, I'm more concerned with where that money is going. At least Toyota (and Honda?) are keeping things at bay, and don't seem to be getting their ass handed to them after years of shitty business decisions.

Coke, fuck you & your "auto unions" drivel. Sure, the UAW agreements are fucked up, but they're no more responsible for this than the scumbags making a half-mil annually who don't want to take a 50% paycut in order to save their hide. Fuck 'em, they can all suffer.

No, I like that Chrysler fake Bentley. It's like a tank and it feels so nice inside.

Ahhh, the 300M. Yup, wanna-be Bentley is exactly what I thought when they remodeled it. If I was going to pay much for a car, give me a fully loaded Toyota Camry XLE or something.

I do but please say it anyway.

As for Canadian auto plants, the few that come to mind directly are:

Toyota of Canada (Lexus) - Cambridge, ON
GM - Oshawa [sic], ON
Ford - St. Thomas, ON (closed?)
