The auto unions did milk it as much as possible. The health plan they had was ridiculously outlandish - no deductables, lavish dental work, this stuff went on for years - and don't even mention the jobs bank fiasco. They got away with it because there always was healthy economy to prop up sales.
Of course when I see Rick Wagoner flying into Washington DC on his private jet with no decent reorganization plan, I can't blame the unions for playing hardball.
Damn shame about Pontiac though, ballsy cars over the years (except for the piece of junk Fiero).
