Bcause I am kind an agent of the landlord here if you ask they will probably pay for paint if you ask to paint it white. The probably won't pay for primer so ask for oil paints (if you are comfortable working with them) because if you slop it on heavy in 1 coat it will cover the color better than white latex paint (which is what you would use if you were trying to do a proper job of it).
