Sorry, the type of thing exemplified by the reporting in this story gets under my skin like nothing else can.
When the story first broke, the guy was clearly identified as a generic undergrad dweeb. Then somebody decided to call him a pre-med student. Then they decided to blatantly lie and call him a medical student.
I can see the slimy newspaper editors and reporters and TV reporters and segment producers getting together and saying to each other, "Sure, it is an absolute Bullshit lie that the kid was a medical student, so what? It might improve our ratings, so lets lie. Most people will never notice and the others won't care."
