TUP, disagree on policy, fine. That's why I say teabag away. But have the debate on policy, not name calling. Have the debate because you have something valid to say about issues, not because Fox News and Limbaugh are upset that conservative values got the boot last election. Saying Obama is a socialist, gets nowhere, just like labeling Bush a fascist got nowhere. Protesting taxes when your taxes are being cut? How lame, a protest about a single digit tax increase on the rich. With Bush, we were protesting a war.

No, most conservatives are not racist, per se. Garofalo was correct, though, to say the rank and file have been herded into a narrow cultural group, who disagree with anything different, and that is the groundwork for subsequent racism. Typical conservatives are a certain type of American society, a shrinking demographic. Folks who only believe in one way of life, and anyone who disagrees is the enemy.

Not true of folks who think for themselves, who value diversity. Look at CommonDreams.org or other progressive sites, there is analysis that urges folks to form opinions about substantial issues. Not "Palin bad not one of us".

I watched Pat Buchanan try to blame the Bush recession on minorities yesterday on the McLaughlin Group. They didn't let him get away with it. When David Duke wanted to run for Congress, he knew he couldn't make it as a Klan or Nazi candidate. Then he looked at the Republican Party platform, and said, "Hey, it's all here!"
