There are all kinds of studies that show being good looking makes one more likely to have a higher income, be promoted, hired, feel fulfilled etc. The results are reinforced by studies of people on the opposite extreme with birth defects or burn scars (less money, less happiness etc).

Cold as this may be, it's Darwinism in action. Freud postulated the same thing over a hundred years ago. He famously said "anatomy is destiny".
