I always liked standing on an over pass to a major highway and listening to sound of the traffic and the air as the cars and trucks sped by me. If I close my eyes it doesn't sound much different than the ocean unless someone beeps their horn or locks up their brakes.

I like roosters and my dog dreaming. I also love the sound of an outrigger snapping on strike when fishing offshore- there is nothing that gets your attention in quite the same way. I love the sound of a well-tuned V-8 engine- preferably a chevrolet but flathead fords sound good too. I have a 1959 Briggs and Stratton engine that sounds like a Harley Davidson when it lumps along. (I hate Harleys- too loud and obnoxious but this old engine has the same rhythm).

Also, I hafta disagree on the can of tennis balls- a can of vienna sausages sounds the same way.

When my mom read poetry.

-Heavy liquid being poured down - that gulp gulp gulp sound it makes as it falls.

-The sound you hear when you're underwater (sort of like muffled noise).

-People (crowds) whispering, especially if this intensifies from murmurs to concern with ohhhs and ahhhs. It's odd I like this because I hate crowds and don't go anywhere crowded like game stadiums or music concerts.

-Screeching wheels (on tarmac or gravel)

-Angry or excited dog constantly barking and snarling at close range

-The sound of a dot matrix printer

-A restaurant being prepared for business (waiters engaged in casual banter, cutlery being set etc)

-Heels clicking in a hallway

-Burning tobacco at the end of a cigarette
