Never got into them even as a kid. Then as an adult, I was on a Diet Coke and Makers Mark kick one summer. But speaking of region/locale, check this out:

Soda = pop.

But in the South, soda = pop = Coke. You'll be asked what kind of coke do you want, and they really mean what kind of soda do you want. I never hear them say pop in the South but they know some folks do other places.
