I like the Mets chances of making the playoffs this year. The 2 relievers they got should add a few wins, and probably get Santana the Cy Young. That said, they are going to need Delgado to be productive all season.
I do hope my Yankees win it all, I also hope A roid doesn't come back from hip surgery. If their starting pitchers are healthy going into the playoffs, they have a real good chance.

Speaking of which, how fucking funny is it that he picks the day the new American President is debuting at NATO to publicly humiliate himself with that Knox of a launch. I'm no fan of Obama, but Fuck if Kim didn't hand it to him on a platter.

That Cuban kid should be starting the Reds home opener. Same w/Strasberg in DC. The earlier arbitration/free agency would be worth the change in atmoshpere and buzz created for the teams. Mets should be starting Ike Davis at 1B.
AL East: Yankees
AL Central: Tigers, cause Dontrelle is going to be like the old Dontrelle.
AL West: Mariners, which will be scary in the playoffs.
AL Wildcard: Rays, I think Boston won't have enough offense.
NL East: Phillies
NL Central: Cardinals
NL West: Dodgers, I'd go SF if they had any power in their lineup.
NL Wild Card: Rockies
AL MVP: Miguel Cabrera, who knows how good he can be sober?
AL Cy Young: Sabathia, Guy is a lock for another 18 wins, if he doesn't have another slow spring, that will put him to 22.
NL MVP: Pujols, unless they are tired of voting for him
NL Cy Young: Halladay, guys going to pitch in a lot of one run games. Not one run difference, he's only going to give up 1, and the Phillies will score 6. He has a legit shot at 25+ wins and sub 2 ERA.
World Series: Yankees over Phillies. That will be my prediction for the next 3-4 years, or until Chase Utley or Ryan Howard leaves Philly. Philly will win one or 2 more championships, but I can't pick against my team.
Mets will fire their manager by the all star break, and not let the GM make any moves at the trading deadline because he'll be gone when the season is over. Too bad the Wilpons can't be forced out.

I'll be a total homer here and predict the Diamondbacks will come out of the West, over the Dodgers. Caveats: if Brandon Webb's shoulder goes bad, or Manny gets a new steroid doctor, i'd have to give the Dodgers the leg up.

I agree w/Fenris about the Braves. I think they will sniff around the wild card spot until sometime in August. They are a young team with a lot of upside coming in the next few years.

Heyward does look to be the real thing. This could be a big year for NL rookies. In another month you'll have Strasburg and Chapman coming up. I might take in a Phillies game to see them live, Mets are too far, too much traffic. Mets 1B prospect Ike Davis is supposed to be good too.
I do like that the Braves are just letting that kid play, not sticking him in the minors for 2 months to keep him from arbitration for an extra year.
I'm also thinking of going to see the Trenton Thunder a couple times this year. The catcher there is supposed to be the one that will replace Posada, since the guy they have at AAA looks to be a DH or 1B.

I know a couple of guys who went to high school (elite prep school) with Joe Buck. The fucker used to shit in people's shoes in the locker room. One kid who was from a moderate- income family and there on scholarship complained to the headmaster when Buck shit in his shoes. The kid's scholarship was revoked and he had to go back to public school. Nobody in St. Louis fucks with Jack Buck's kids and gets away with it.

I liked it when Artie Lange was high on the Joe Buck show and started doing his routine about Joe's dad getting liquored up while commentating. Also, Artie's story about Bob Uecker using the cough button to talk about broads is classic.
In conclusion, fuck Joe Buck. He's horrible to listen to w/ baseball, and 2x as bad doing football.

I'm loving the early returns on my San Diego Padres.
I hope they can stay in the race through the trade deadline and hold on to Adrian Gonzalez. The guy is perfect for San Diego. He grew up hear, he's Mexican, speaks fluent Spanish and would be a great marketing tool to attract fans across the border.
I think I enjoy the Dodgers being in last place nearly as much.

it's incredibly frustrating having nothing to judge the x-axis of a pitch against while being so close to the field you can otherwise see everything in detail.

Can we all slow down the Strasburg for Cy Young and All-Star starter movement a little bit please? Can the media at least wait and see what happens after he faces everyone a couple of times and hitters are able to get a bit more of a read on him before they enshrine him in Cooperstown. biased here but the sox should win the al, then it's a matter of who's healthier between the phils and their pitching staff. sounds like utley's already having health probs, and i think the sox are better offensively to start with, wear down weak starters better, strike out less and youk and while nobody's as pure a power hitter as howard, youk and adrian are scarier, crawford's got a better combo of speed/hit than rollins, petey's better than chase and so on. if any of their starters isn't 100% they're fucked.

Early season thoughts after looking over the standings.
How bout them Rays? Lose Pena, Soriano, Crawford, and Garza, and they are still at the top of the division. Shows what can be done building through the draft.
Yankees need to trade for a starter.
Boston will get on a hot streak some time, question is do Yanks or Rays go into a long slump.
Indians & Royals...WOW. That division is probably upside down from what most thought.
Phillies get Utley back, and he plays to his potential, they gonna be scary good. Imagine if they dump Rollins and pick up Reyes in the off season.

Earlier in the week the Royals won a series at Yankee Stadium for the first time since 1999. I can't believe their starting rotation is going to hold up come July and August (the most dependable pitcher in their rotation is fucking Bruce Chen) but if their young starters in Double and Triple A are as good as advertised they could be the surprise team in the league in the next couple of years.

Also, I can't wait to see Bryce Harper play ball. Guy is supposed to be a non junkie Josh Hamilton. He's killing it in class A. If I'm the Nats, I bring him up by the All Star break, just to sell tickets. If you can spend 120 mill on Werth, you can't be worried about when this guy hits arbitration.

I can't say I disagree with your predictions. I haven't seen enough of Cincy and Wash. to offer an opinion. I can't imagine Wash. not putting Strasberg out there for the Championship Series though.
My Yankees have too many guys that make their yearly stats against bad pitching, and therefore wilt against good pitchers in the post season. I'm looking at you 2, Swisher and Tex. Detroit sending them packing again wouldn't be surprising. Of course, Iciro, Jeter and Cano could be the new version of Raines, Jeter, Williams, who wrecked relief pitchers on their way to the title.
What do you think about AL MVP: Cabrera or Trout? You got a place in your heart for the Alkie making good, huh? Imagine if Cabrera wasn't a drunk, this could be his second or 3rd Triple Crown.
Matter of fact, lemme see your post season ballot, if you had a vote.

AL Cy Young is going to be close. Price and Weaver both won 20, Verlander led the league in Ks.
NL MVP probably should be Braun, but I think last year's hot piss test might cost him and swing people to Posey.
Cabrera and Dickey should run away with their awards. If Cabrera isn't unanimous, then people should get their votes revoked.
I don't think playing in NYC is going to hurt Dickey. It is still shitty that he got snubbed to start the All Star game.

Dickey was clearly the story of the first half as far as pitchers go, but it might be that they didn't want to embarass the starting catcher. Some guys just can't catch a knuckler. I don't remember how it all went down as far as replacements go and when they came in, but the manager might have had to take that into consideration. Also, I think early on, people weren't quite ready to believe he was as good as he actually was this season. Like maybe he might fall apart with a horrible start at any moment.

Matt Cain pitching a no hitter entered into it, although I think the fact Dickey threw 2 one hitters and walked next to no one should have put him over the top for the start.
I hope the Mets sign him long term and he keeps pitching well. I love seeing the knuckle ball. Also, he would be a perfect complement to the young fireballers the Mets are supposed to have.

Lots of things to cover from previous posts here.
1. Buster Olney from ESPN made the same World Series prediction that Charin made.
2. Cabrera should win the MVP but don't be surprised if Trout wins. A lot of the voters today are sabermetric nerds who discount any stat that does not have a decimal point in it.
3. I would give the Cy Young to Dickey and Price. Tampa had an absolute crap offense this year. Put Cabrera and Fielder in Tampa's lineup this year and Price probably wins 25.
4. I have no clue who gets the NL MVP. Whoever it is would probably finish about 5th if they were in the AL.

The rule needs to be changed. If the infield fly is called the player should have to catch it for it to be an out. If he drops it whether unintentionally or intentionally or the ball drops like it did last night then all hands are safe. The ball is dead. One base for each runner. The whole thing would hinge on calling it an infield fly and being caught.
