I have a really good friend who thinks like this. When I got my cell phone he told me "I can't believe you switched to those things." To this day he still defiantly refuses to get one, perhaps in fear that he will turn to one of those pricks that calls you all the time for no particular reason at all.





It's a sweetly anachronistic position, hearkening back to the early 1990s when people who had cell phones were 'Yuppies'.

Ask the rice farmer in Cambodia or Laos, who can own a telephone for the first time because cell phone infrastructure is so much cheaper and more advanced than a landline, if they aren't afraid someone will think they're rude for taking a call in a restaurant.

For most applications cell phones are far superior, portable and multitask (Smart phones!) It's just not reasonable to say otherwise.
