Calling the authorities on my neighbors last night backfired. They now think I am guilty of "harassment" which I most surely am.
The consequences of this involve moving and losing my job.
I am not very happy about either one but they are relatively harmless. Considering they will have do deal with their screaming brats forever and I will only ever hear them for the next month.
I would drop their address and telephone number but I do not hate them that much.
While I am moving in Toronto they will be living in their native Africa and there is nothing worse than that.
I say cheers to the Africans, have a blast in Africa. You won't be missed.
Sigh. I am glad this shit finally resolved.

Don't sweat it til you know for sure. Who's busting your balls about the harassment thing? The building's owners?
I dunno about TO, but here if you're zoned residential the laws are pretty clear about making noise all the goddamn time. Do you know if any other tenants share your view of them?

Also, I'd like to know, and I'm being totally serious here. Did the police come inside your apartment? What was their reaction to your huge hamster netwrk and habitrails all over the place?

@Gia: I have two hams and they each have their own 20 gallon terrarium.
I do have some habitrail stuff but I don't use it because it isn't made with Syrian hamsters in mind. It isn't large enough and it forces them to stoop when they are walking around. Not good.

Ensuring people follow the rules, you are employed to enforce, should never be considered harassment. Or is this a case of the white person automatically being considered in the wrong because of the color of their skin?

I don't think it's a skin color thing. it's the cult of the child. Parents are right, man who had not had any screaming brats is wrong.
"Hey what's your problem, it's only a baby." Is what I keep hearing. I wonder if the same idiotic logic applies to a barking dog or loud rap music.

@Chuck. I missed the link earlier. You totally got me. I would just like to point that I do not use racism generically and that I have noticed a real correlation between black families and children who have no support system.
Take that as you will and feel free to call me a racist asshole. The numbers back up my feelings.
The people in my city who have excessive amounts of children tend to be black. They also do not own family farms or have any reason at all to populate the earth with their genetics.
When you have more kids than you have library cards it's time to to think about a vasectomy.

Don't make any moves until you talk to the province about the issue, and determine what your rights actually are. Call the Ontario Housing Tribunal board. You have rights, and complaining about excessive noise from neighbors isn't grounds for eviction or terminating a lease.
Most landlords will shit their pants as soon as they hear you are going to press forward with your rights, or request an investigation. Do not cave in just yet, until you talk to someone who is informed, and learn what the facts are.

You can call the Landlord and Tenant Board at 1-888-332-3234 from outside Toronto or 416-645-8080 from within the GTA calling area. Recorded information is available 24 hours a day. You can also visit any Landlord and Tenant Board office in Ontario to talk to a CSR in person.

Dude if you're getting nowhere with Children's Aid you should try the Catholic Youth Organization. Their coffers are as deep as the church and they have lots of newbie workers waiting to file a report on just about anything.

I would like to thank all of you for being supportive.
I knocked on their door today and made the sincereist apologies that I could.
The landlord called me and told me that the eviction was a mistake (not that I could not have fought it with ease).
And the parents apologized to me and explained that frankly they did not notice the screaming.
As some of the previous posters pointed out: No shit?!? They really could not hear their baby.
I wonder about the other neighbors who told me not to worry "it's just a baby" I wonder how well they would like to hear baby in their house.
And I'm not joking here one of my neighbors seriously walked up to me and stood on top of my shoe laces so I couldn't move while he was yelling at me.
I don't get what is hard to understand about this. I don't want to hear kids in my house because I haven't got any kids. What is hard to get about that?

CQ, acknowledge their right to reproduce. Admit that it is not your place to judge if they are worthy. Many of us started life being raised by financially struggling parents.
Try to be nice, and try to see some joy in the little monsters. They are little better than your hamsters in some types of development, but you put up with the down side of the hammies. Find some good in having children as part of your life.
Earphones, music, TV, ticking clock, etc. not a complete solution, none of these are, but help.
Go for a walk in a quiet place or go to the library once in a while. An hour of real quiet will do you a lot of good.
Totally accept that you can't change this.
This, too, shall pass. They will grow.

I'm glad it's been cleared up.
Conq - as I understand from your previous posts you are something like the resident manager at the apartment. If that's the case you are an employee and your compensation includes the apartment. As a result, the owner can fire you whenever he wants. Your only right is appropriate notice to leave.
Since you are not really a tenant, you don't get the benefit of tenants rights.
Move on everyone.
