Telephone etiquette is dying out. I've run into the same thing and it irritates the shit out of me. I've given more than a few people the 3rd degree for stupid shit like that. When I get a telephone call I expect to be greeted, informed of who the caller is and then politely asked the name of the person the caller is trying to contact. The worse thing you can do is call my phone and TELL me to put someone on the the phone and only slightly less insulting is to have a caller ask who I am before they identify themself or who they wish to speak with. The caller will never get in contact with who they are calling for after that if I am around.
