Never say never and nothing ventured nothing gained. The formalistic criticism is correct, of course, but IMO the bigger question is how efficient are our current operations to obtain actionable intelligence on al-Qa'ida, and if as I suspect we are not doing well then perhaps longshot techniques are justifiable.
