Are we not now occupying Afghanistan? Is it reasonable to expect a different result than that encountered by Afghanistan's previous would-be occupiers. Isn't the role of imperial occupier fundamentally anathema to our Constitutional republic? Have not our previous occupations been more trouble than they were worth? Wasn't Albert Einstein spot on when he said that conducting the same experiment and expecting different results was the essence of insanity?
