Unless you are a member of the team being a fan amounts to nothing. Unless you are a player it doesn't matter.

By "your team" I mean the team you have no personal involvement with but who you root for.

Sports fans think they are a part of something larger than themselves, they are not. Just pawns paying money to stand on the side lines. Cheering more won't change the outcome of a game.
