Yeah, well I guess you could have made that interpretation the whole time of what he was saying. His whole, "look! I'll go in there and be nice to them. I'll bow and smile. Maybe we'll be surprised at how cooperative they are!" It's like he thought the entire diplomatic community had just been wrong about their approach and he was list Descartes was to Socrates and he was just going to reinvent the whole damn thing.

But, that said, I don't know that he's necessarily made things worse yet. So, he tried naivete for a year. So what? The problem is, does he know how to be stiff with them? I don't think they teach that in community organizing school. So far, only the froot loops at the Nobel Peace Prize committee seem to have bought it.
