What makes you think I'm not at home? I've been in the US; it was nice. And I was glad to be back home, when I returned.

The last time 'you came to save our asses' was 65 years ago and there wasn't much begging involved. It took Pearl Harbour and a German declaration of war to make you realize there was a war going on in the world. Get over it.
After that episode, the begging was usually done by the US government.
