Not necessarily creepy. Both Mayan and Jewish calendars are informed by lunar phases.



The Mayan calendar uses a cycle within a cycle within a cycle (kind of like meshed gears) and only the first one is based on the 29 day lunar phase.

So, yeah, creepy. Not that it happens on the Solstice but that both, separated by thousands of miles and thousands of years, have the 2012 coincidence.
