I'm sure Gia will chime in at some point but I like Vodka Tonics for low cal. Remember that it's also about what you eat before and after you get your booze on that effects weight gain.

I'm a big fan of vodka and tonics (especially with the juice of half of a lime added using a lime squeezer), but tonic water is usually loaded with sugar, so it may not necessarily be ideal for weight loss depending on whose diet you are following. More info here...

Drinking pure spirits is probably your best bet -- I have been a big tequila fan lately, ever since someone introduced me to quality bottles. You don't need lemons or salt or any of that garbage if you're drinking good tequila -- you can actually sip or throw back shots of it, and almost enjoy it.

My favourite brands so far haven't been the most expensive ones. Patron brand is expensive, but who cares about a "hand blown glass bottle", and to be honest the taste was nothing special for the money. Cabo Wabo brand has a lot of marketing push and legendary hype because of the association with Sammy Hagar, but is overpriced for my money.

My favourite brands so far have been :

Don Julio (get either the Anejo or the Reposado kind)
Sells for ~$49 US$ (but almost $100 CAN$ for some reason!!)

Leyenda del Milagro (get the Reposado)
Sells for maybe $32 US$

No joke, a friend and I sat and casually drank shots of an entire 26oz bottle of the Leyenda del Milagro Reposado over a three hour period one night, laughing and reminiscing, and munching on some appetizers; it was that smooth. We then crashed for the night, and then got up to do a full day of work the next day, virtually hangover free. After consuming rotgut bar-rail tequila my entire life, it was truly shocking to find some that was consumable, letalone enjoyable.
