New Tom Byron Viral Videos Posted!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(Van Nuys, CA) February 25, 2009 – It’s been a busy 2009, so far, for one of the most recognizable male stars and his eponymous studio. First, he won Best MILF line at AEE (Seasoned Players), and then he launched a new series (King of Coochie). Now, Tom Byron and Tom Byron Pictures have posted several new video clips to get fans in the mood, and preview upcoming movies.
Tom and his cameras poked around Vegas during the big annual adult show, and that video can be found on both Tom’s MySpace page, and his YouTube channel. He’s also continued his stellar work for the PopPorn site, posting regular pre-sex interviews with castmates he’s about to bone in his DVDs. He’s all over the web – and adult fans will love seeing him act out, crack jokes, show folks the ‘ropes’ of the real porn world, and just being himself.
"Vegas is always a blast. It's changed so much in the 30 or so years I've been going there. So have the adult conventions. We used to be the bastard child of the CES, shuttled off in a corner, out of sight. Now we're on busses, headlining at Mandalay Bay. It's amazing!"
Adds Byron, "It's pretty awesome that Seasoned Players won best MILF this year. That was definitely the one I wanted. Being inducted into the Legends of Erotica Hall of Fame was another highlight. Yeah, Vegas rocked it this year!"
Here are just some of the recent viral postings – pure Tom, 100% hot chicks, all entertainment.

“Private Teacher” clip (1.3 million hits from Tom’s 1983 classic!)
Says the prolific performer and director: "I have so much fun doing this stuff. Hopefully my fans will keep supporting me so I can keep doing it!
Tom will also be at Adultcon 16 in LA, March 20-22 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Come chat with the Lord of Porn, grab an award-winning Seasoned Players DVD, or pick up another new release! Tom will have his movies for sale for fans, and you can shoot the shit with your favorite male performer!

Maybe I'm missing something here but doesn't the very concept of a "viral video" stop working and becomes simple PR once you've declared that you have made a viral video?
What I mean is you make a video and release it onto the net and it gets popular (hence viral) or it doesn't.
But declaring something you've made a "viral video" doesn't make it viral, it just makes it obvious that you don't understand what you're doing.
"Check out this new viral video I made" translates into "I've made a commercial, but I want to appear hip on the internet so I will call it a viral video instead".
Monstar I like your stuff but sure you realize the very point of something being viral is that it doesn't demand any promotion as it spreads itself through it's own merits.
A video that goes online and spreads like wild fire through sharing is said to have "gone viral"
Viral videos spread themselves if they are any good, they don't need to be promoted as viral, it's disingenuous.
Toms videos are simple self promotion, commercials. They don't have the entertainment or humor value that make them worth sharing (like a virus).
They certainly are videos and Tom certainly is in them but we'll see in a year or two how presumptuous it was to call them viral videos instead of amateur self promotional videos.
Mentos and coke = viral. Numa Numa guy = viral. Star wars kid = viral. Tom at a trade show with music overdubbed sitting at a table with Ron Jeremy... I'm not sure what is supposed to make me want to forward that to my friends.

I didn't write the press release, i had nothing to do with it.. just reposted here...
and I totally agree with you. when we did the eva ones aside from a few msg board and mysapce posting we let them grow organically...
but back to the point, in total seriousness, is there any other way to word this so people can differentiate between a star factory press release and one that i'm adding to the board as just news?
currently I add the "Press release issued from XXXXX" to set it apart from my stuff...

My apologies Monstar, I thought you were the one who sugar coated this.
You could post with a little disclaimer "This landed on my desk so I'm just passing it along to you folks. The contact info for the submitter can be found at the bottom."
I'm not sure but I can see how it could be problematic and I didn't mean to bitch at you.
I'm sure you know that people who are net savvy end up feeling a little insulted by things like this.
The rules on this are simple though, virals are not virals if they have an agenda and are artificially spread. You know it but the guy who wrote Tom's release didn't.

@Monstar: I followed the link and couldn't find the same press release at Tom's site.
I wanted to drop them a note complimenting them on having about the same level of 'net understanding as my grandparents, who are dead.
I have been a huge fan of Tom since I saw "Young Girls in Tight Jeans" and I really don't like seeing him coming off as an out-of-touch old fogey.
Other idea for you is seeing about setting up a "dummy" account where you can post this kind of press without having it associated with star factory. That way you won't get users like me thinking you have no clue what viral internet phenomena are.

naw, you didn't bitch at me, but I have noticed people have thought I was the issuer of a press release when I was merely posting the info submitted to me. My detractors then claim I'm spamming this forum with my own PRs, which is hardly the case.
