I've read of one incident of a "bite" that just barely broke the skin. I don't think that's aggressive or anti-social by chimp standards. Which aren't human standards, which may may be the root of the problem. Chimps *are* territorial and will attack to defend their mates: who there would have recognized when these instincts might get out of control?

Then again, sometimes humans just go postal too.
