"The state of Victoria in southern Australia has recently been hit with hundreds of bush fires during a record-breaking heatwave -- temperatures well above 38°C (100°F). Unfortunately, these fires have proved to be the deadliest in Australian history, with at least 166 deaths reported so far. The fires mostly appear to have been started by lightning -- however a few appear to have been arson, and are under investigation -- entire towns being declared crime scenes. Twenty-four fires are still burning, and authorities warn that the death toll will likely rise."

This happens every year in Aussie. I lived in Sydney for 9 years and the bush fires would start up every Christmas. This one was bad though with a high death toll.

It doesn't help that people build houses in the bush, when bush fires and drought are a part of the natural cycle in Aussie. It's like people building houses in tornado alley and wondering why their house gets destroyed every few years.

Hey, I've lived my whole life in tornado alley and have never had one come anywhere close to where I live.

Mods I want the ability to delete this post anytime in the next four months if my local radar gives me any reason to believe I've jinxed myself.

And this will piss off the Sydney Funnel Web Spiders, Bulldog Ants, and venomous snakes (7 of the worlds 10 most poisonous snakes live in Australia) to no end.

They will be on the move, in concert, looking for hapless human refugees to satisfy their need to kill.
