Is there no director, producer, or writer that can conceive of an original idea? Damn it, does every single movie that comes out have to be a sequel or remake or based on someone else’s idea? Look at some of the movies out now I Robot, Spiderman 2, Cinderella Story, King Arthur and Shrek 2. Look what is coming out The Manchurian Candidate, Alien Vs. Predator, The Exorcist: The Beginning, and Thunderbirds. I am not saying that these movies aren’t any good but Jesus fucking Christ where are the original story ideas and creativeness in the mainstream movies today? This is just my two cents so back to your porn and corn chip infested lives.

I agree that hollywood is stale at the moment but I do not want to see a rash of " independent" artsy fartsy movies being made either. As far as sequels go, I like many of them and I am happy to let the market sort it out, if these sequels suck and no one goes to #2 then #3 probably won't be made at all. The sequel itself is not the problem IMO rather it is the nature of some of these sequels- The Batman franchise for example- started well but went down hill after becoming to silly- had they stayed with the Dark Knight mythos than it would have kept going strong.
