This is actually a fallacy because most whores who suck dick on camera don't have credit cards, or bank accounts, or cars. Come to think about it, most don't have a pot to piss in because a career at Burger King will get you a bus pass and bag of tweak. The only things most whores have when they enter the business are an unemployed boyfriend, daddy issues, and a desire to buy the aforementioned boyfriend's guitar out of pawn.

I got into it for the money... both to pay tuition (I graduated from USC in 1999, BA in Nursing,) and to pay the bills. I was a 19 year old divorced college student carrying 13 units and working 2 retail jobs (1 full time at Fred Segal, one part time for Gap Corp.) Porn was an easy way to quit 1 job, pay the bills on time, support the family AND be able to study. I graduated with honors, went to work for the County of LA for awhile, (I worked at Hudson Health Center - a clinic in Downtown LA,) for a year before going back to work in the biz. Handling burgandy urine samples for $18.00/ hour wasn't my idea of a good time...
Someone else asked the question about home ownership... I used to own a condo in Downtown LA's theater district. I sold it last year and bought a larger townhouse in the Valley. I thought I'd hate living so close to work, but I love my quiet little Jewish neighborhood.

Congrats, Sinn! You sound like you know why and what you are doing in this business. I wish you a long and prosperous time in the industry, for however long you choose. You certainly are not the norm. ^^^ Thanks! Don't get me wrong, I love what I do and I've spent my share on cheap stripper clothes, hooker shoes and expensive makeup like the next person. But there's something to be said to having another person to be responsible for that changes everything, (or at least should...) I've also always tried to only do things on camera that I would do or had done in my personal life, (except that double anal, that was purely experimental - which is why I did only one and directed the movie it was in.) The way I look at it, if I wouldn't do it in my personal life, why would I do it on camera? I think most of the girls that use drugs to perform circus acts on camera do it because they are doing stuff they wouldn't normally do in real life to begin with. I think that's why I'm still around... because fans can tell that I genuinely love fucking on film.  When I do finally decide to stop performing, I hope it will be because I want to and not because the business has spit me out.

If you exclude the gonzo porn I think more than a few of these girls just don't see it as such a big deal anymore, just another way to make some quick money, and you have people like Tracy Lords and JJ to thank for that. Hell just look at the Photobucket and Myspace threads, these girls are at porns doorstep, and doing it for a little attention.
That and, weather it's porn (more so the gonzo), Fear Factor, American Idol, or some football player dancing around like a monkey in the end zone, most people just don't value their dignity much anymore.

I got into porn to pay the bills and have flexibility in my schedule.
I own a home and 3 cars. Not luxury cars...simple,reg cars(2 I bough new, one is a classic 1953 Bel Air)
My college education was long paid for by the time I got into the industry.
It paid better then most(esp in this economy), I wasnt required to stick to a 9-5 M-F life,which I dont care for, and was a hell of a lot more fun then sitting at a desk all day working for corporate america!

Yeah I don't care about cars - as they say "buying things we don't need to try and impress people we don't even like" as long as I have one that is safe and goes. I think its better putting the money towards something else
