These shows aren't about recovery, they are about paychecks. Only other place Amber Smith is going to earn money is CraigsList. She's been knocking around Hollywood for years and hasn't managed to get a sugar daddy or some one more fucked up than her to marry and get an alimony check from. Rodney King? The pudgy chick from American Idol? They aint bringing in any cash from any other source, that's why they are on the show. The whole getting clean shit is just to absolve VH1 from lawsuits if someone OD's on the show. "We weren't glorifying their use, we were doing everything we could to help".
