There also seems to be an increase in the number of the "terminally homeless" on the trains, meaning the people who really, really smell and have carts and stuff. I think they are getting pushed out of the subway underground tunnel culture, because most are in really bad shape and aren't shelter types. The mentally ill are back out on the streets in force too. At times it almost has the aura of The Crack Years, when parts of the city looked like a zombie movie set.

This past summer I encountered more people covered in their own poop on the train than I have since the Dinkins years. I can only hope all the trustfund douches from Peoria start selling their Lower East Side condos and heading the fuck back home because of it.



That's what I mean. There were always bums in NYC but in the past months their presence rapidly increased.
