If the porn industry wants out of its doldrums, it needs to try to duplicate iTunes: have one trusted brand name store, where all porn is available for purchase (not streaming or rental) in a universal, non-DRM format -- H.264 would be ideal, and prices will be reasonable. iTunes sells Hollywood movies for $9.99 and TV shows for $1.99. It seems to me that one day wonders like Big Wet Asses #32 have more in common with TV shows than Titanic and should be priced accordingly: $1.99 and certainly no higher than $4.99.

Videobox has about 30 thousand scenes with about 25 new ones added daily available for download in .wmv, .mpeg and H.264. Depending on how long you sign up for- it can be as little as $10 per month for unlimited d/ls of DVD quality smut. Why would I pay $1.99 per scene? Videobox

$120 per year, ain't cheap. And I'm not suggesting paying $1.99 per scene, I'm suggesting paying $1.99 to $4.99 for the entire "movie" however many scenes that is.

Most people (me included) refuse to participate in any kind of subscription. That's why no matter how hard the music industry begged, Apple refused to launch any music subscription service, while their by the song/album/video/show/movie model has been amazingly successful. You may end up spending more than you would if you subscribed, but you are only paying for what you want. And if you stop downloading, you stop paying, put what you have bought is yours forever. Just like a CD or DVD.

That said Videobox really looks quite good, but of course didn't have the stuff I really wanted, like Pierre Woodman's Private Casting X or Hustler equivalent. Edit: and to get 640x480 resolution they charge $18 a month, not $10.
